Shreveport-Bossier Black Restaurant Week Returns

October 20-26 2024

[Shreveport-Bossier, LA] — October 16, 2024 — The Shreveport-Bossier African American Chamber of Commerce proudly presents Shreveport-Bossier Black Restaurant Week, taking place from October 20 - 26, 2024. This celebration of Black culinary excellence will feature over 17 participating restaurants and bars offering special menu items and curated experiences for food lovers across the region. The goal is to stimulate economic impact in the local restaurant industry for Black-owned businesses and raise awareness of these businesses in Shreveport-Bossier. Supporting Black-owned restaurants plays a crucial role in achieving socio-economic upliftment, and the sustainable implementation of these benefits will strengthen the entire community and open opportunities for future generations.

“The impact of supporting Black-owned restaurants and chefs during Black Restaurant Week goes beyond just enjoying a meal. It’s about empowering our community, celebrating our culture, and contributing to the growth of businesses that are the backbone of our economy. When we invest in Black culinary talent, we are not only fostering entrepreneurship but also preserving the rich, diverse culinary heritage that is part of our identity.” — Meagan Davis, Chairwoman of the Shreveport-Bossier African American Chamber of Commerce.

“Black Restaurant Week is so very important to me because it gives us a time to celebrate, support and shine a light on, not just Orlandeaux’s, but all of the wonderful black-owned restaurants in our area.  Through the last century, our family has filled the bellies of the people of this city, so it’s our duty to continue to serve our Creole Cuisine to our community for another 100 years!” Damien Chapman, Owner of the Orlandeaux’s.

The week kicks off with an exciting King vs. King Cook Off Fundraiser featuring Krewe of Harambee King XXV Damien Chapman and Krewe of Sobek King Chris Hayes XXII at Orlandeaux Cafe from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and  Black Restaurant Week Kick Off Party on October 20 at G-Spot Daq2Go (450 Clyde Fant Pkwy, Shreveport, LA), from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Attendees will enjoy food, drinks, and live entertainment as they celebrate the start of this annual event.
