LSU Health Shreveport Welcomes New Department of Neurology Chair

Chen Lin, MD, MBA, has been named Chair of the Department of Neurology at LSU Health Shreveport effective August 18. Dr. Lin comes to Shreveport from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he was an Associate Professor in the UAB Heersink School of Medicine Department of Neurology’s Division of Cerebrovascular Disease and Epilepsy Center, Director of the UAB Stroke Recovery Clinic and Director of the UAB Neuro-Recovery Program. Dr. Lin attended the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Ga., and completed his medical internship and residency in neurology at Duke University in Durham, N.C., where he served as Chief Resident. After his residency, he completed a NIH StrokeNet Research Fellowship and a Vascular Neurology Fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago, Ill. Dr. Lin’s research is focused on improving post-stroke outcomes during rehabilitation and recovery aimed at improving quality of life. He has his board certification in General Neurology and Vascular Neurology from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and is an active member of the American Heart Association, American Academy of Neurology, American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, and the World Stroke Organization.
