Cassidy Announces $5.2 Million for Louisiana Airport Improvements — Shreveport Regional Among Recipients
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-La.) announced that Louisiana airports will receive $5,225,066 in federal funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), made possible through the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and Cassidy’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
The grants will support runway and apron improvements, safety upgrades, and modernization projects at airports across the state.
Shreveport Regional Airport is slated to receive $517,750 to reseal 34,000 square yards of pavement on its West Apron, extending the life of a critical part of the airport’s infrastructure.
“Airports connect our communities to the rest of the country and the world,” Cassidy said. “This investment makes Louisiana’s airports safer and more efficient.”
Breakdown of Awards
- Shreveport Regional Airport – $517,750 to reseal 34,000 square yards of West Apron pavement.
- Alexandria International Airport (England Economic & Industrial Development District) – $2,932,905 to expand the South Apron by 500 square yards.
- Beauregard Regional Airport – $765,000 to reseal 5,494 feet of Runway 18/36 pavement.
- Jonesville Airport – $406,071 to resurface 3,000 feet of Runway 6/24.
- Chennault International Airport (Lake Charles) – $331,531 to rehabilitate 5,420 square yards of South Apron pavement.
- Vidalia Airport (Concordia Parish) – $294,804 to reseal 3,701 feet of Runway 14/32 and 1,330 feet of Taxiway A.
- Winnsboro Municipal Airport – $125,000 for design of runway rehabilitation.
- Vivian Airport – $102,875 to acquire 51.8 acres of land to protect the Runway 9/27 approach.
- Oakdale Airport (Allen Parish) – $50,130 for design of a new airfield drainage system.
The funding comes as part of ongoing federal investments to modernize Louisiana’s airports and improve safety and efficiency for passengers, freight, and general aviation.
