BPCC to Host Louisiana Film Prize Screenings During Prize Fest 2025

BOSSIER CITY, La. — Bossier Parish Community College will again serve as a screening site for the Louisiana Film Prize, part of the 2025 Prize Fest celebration, reinforcing the college’s partnership with the Prize Foundation and its support of arts and culture in Northwest Louisiana.

Prize Fest 2025, scheduled for Oct. 15–19 in downtown Shreveport, will showcase regional creativity through food, comedy, film, and music. The Louisiana Film Prize begins Oct. 16 with Film Prize University and a red carpet event, followed by screenings of 20 original short films produced in Louisiana. Filmmakers will compete for a top award of up to $50,000, billed as the world’s largest cash prize for a short film.

BPCC will host screenings inside the Stephen W. Slaughter Theatre in Building C at its Bossier City campus, located at 6220 East Texas Street. The collaboration aims to broaden access to the festival for students and residents of Bossier Parish.

“The Film Prize is all about celebrating creativity and community, and we’re thrilled to partner with BPCC again to bring this experience to even more people across our region,” said Gregory Kallenberg, founder of the Prize Foundation. “BPCC’s support helps us showcase the incredible talent of filmmakers while making the festival more accessible to students, families, and audiences who might be experiencing Prize Fest for the first time.”

BPCC Chancellor Rick Bateman Jr. said the partnership reflects the college’s mission to promote cultural engagement. “Bossier Parish Community College is proud to once again be part of Prize Fest,” Bateman said. “Hosting Film Prize screenings on our campus allows us to connect students and our community to the thriving creative economy in our state.”

The Louisiana Film Prize distinguishes itself from traditional film festivals by combining jury and audience voting to select winners. Festivalgoers attending screenings at BPCC and downtown Shreveport venues will help determine the competition’s top filmmaker.

The event also offers networking and educational opportunities for students and aspiring filmmakers. A full schedule of events and ticket information is available at prizefest.com.
