BPCC Chancellor Reappointed to Cybersecurity Education Management Council

Baton Rouge, LA – In a move that underscores his commitment to advancing cybersecurity education and preparedness, Chancellor Rick Bateman, Jr. has been reappointed by Dr. Monty Sullivan, President of the Louisiana Community & Technical College System, to serve on the Cybersecurity Education Management Council (CEMC) for a second term.

The CEMC is tasked with promoting degree and certificate programs in cybersecurity fields offered by public postsecondary education institutions to meet the state’s workforce needs. The Council advises and makes recommendations to the Louisiana Board of Regents concerning distributions from the Cybersecurity Talent Investment Fund.

Chancellor Bateman's reappointment reaffirms his leadership and dedication to enhancing cybersecurity education initiatives in Northwest Louisiana and statewide. Over the past three years, Chancellor Bateman has worked with the Council to make significant strides in cybersecurity curriculum development and workforce training among the state’s two-year and four-year colleges and universities.

"Chancellor Bateman has consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership in addressing the critical challenges posed by cyber threats," stated Dr. Monty Sullivan. "His presence on the Cybersecurity Education Management Council has helped to ensure that our colleges can navigate the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape and respond effectively with training that meets workforce needs in Louisiana."

Throughout his tenure, Chancellor Bateman has been instrumental in fostering collaboration among educational institutions, industry partners, and government agencies, fostering a holistic approach to cybersecurity education. His efforts have contributed to the establishment of robust cybersecurity programs, innovative research initiatives, and strategic partnerships aimed at fortifying our state’s cyber defenses.
