Applications Open for 2025 G. Scott Griffin Award Honoring North Louisiana Artists
SHREVEPORT, La. — The Community Foundation of North Louisiana (CFNLA) will begin accepting applications for the 2025 G. Scott Griffin Award on Monday, July 21. The annual award includes a $1,000 cash prize and recognizes a North Louisiana artist who has made meaningful contributions to the community through their art while overcoming personal adversity.
Applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM on Friday, August 8, 2025, via CFNLA’s scholarship portal. Full application guidelines are available at cfnla.org/2025-scott-griffin-award.
The award honors the legacy of G. Scott Griffin, a multidisciplinary artist known for his work in music, photography, and film. Despite being visually impaired due to congenital nystagmus, Griffin pursued his artistic passions with unwavering dedication. He passed away in 2007 at age 45 due to complications from cancer. The Scott Griffin Fund was established to honor artists who demonstrate similar perseverance and creative excellence.
Past recipients of the award include Susan Duke, Cathy Cobb, Ian Quiet, Larry Sanchez, Aaron Cox, Bertha Cooper Harris, Angelique Feaster-Evans, Poetic X, Carlos Colón, Buddy Flett, Bobby Darrow, Matthew Cipolla, Mary “ML” Dumars, and Maudie Bryant.
